Reflections on my 'goals statement':

I feel that I have completed some of the things I set out to do in my goals statement. I've kept up watching anime and listening to Japanese music, and this has really helped me gain a more authentic tone when speaking. I have not been to the Japanese Language Table as of yet, but now that I have settled in to my schedule I should be able to go once a month at the very least. I also have not been to as many Office Hours as I would have liked, so I'm making sure to schedule them when I have free time (most likely Tuesdays). I'm looking forward to seeing the effect this has on my fluency.

My goals for the course:

1. Learn to eventually speak Japanese more fluidly
    • Practice more often. Get more comfortable with the phrases I learn in class by going to office hours once a week. Go to the Japanese Language Table twice a month
2. Remember the kanji for each chapter
    • Practice writing out words I know using kanji. Make frequent use of 'kanji app' to practice learning each kanji along with the proper stroke order
3. Have a more natural sounding Japanese tone
    •  When watching anime try to take the time to shadow a small section. Listen to Japanese music while working

みんなさん、こんにちわ!

Having watched countless hours of anime and having become so engrossed in Japanese culture, the decision to learn Japanese seemed like a natural step for me. After my first few days of classes I realized how hard it was for me to remember the hiragana characters and produce a natural sounding Japanese tone. However, I'm still motivated and excited to learn as much as possible and maybe take a trip to Japan and see how well I fare!
